I urge you to vote NO on bills in the Michigan legislature that would make housing less affordable and less safe.Housing policy should encourage more housing to be built in Michigan. But bills like&nbsp;House Bills 4947 and&nbsp;4818 would make it more expensive to build and maintain apartment communities across the state.Furthermore, House Bill&nbsp;4878 would make apartment and senior communities substantially less safe by preventing landlords from stopping murders and other felons from living in their communities.I urge you to VOTE NO on all the rental and community housing bills that will send costs through the roof!

Safe and affordable housing is under attack in Michigan. The legislature is considering a number of bills that would raise rent and housing prices, while creating unsafe communities for renters. Just a couple of the egregious examples under consideration today:

House Bill 4878 would prevent landlords from stopping people who have committed crimes like murder and assault from living in apartment and senior communities.
House Bill 4947 would permit rent control across Michigan, an idea that has caused skyrocketing housing costs, lower quality rentals, and housing shortages leading to homelessness in cities like San Fransisco and New York.

Together, the series of bills will cause fewer apartments and homes to be built in Michigan, and less money invested in maintaining high-quality apartments for renters. With less supply, Michiganders will see their rents and monthly payments rise.
